In an attempt to challenge Data, Geordi creates a holographic advisary with the ability to defeat Data which causes the holographic version of Sherlock Holmes' arch enemy, Professor Moriarty to become sentient and threatens Doctor Pulaski's life and the Enterprise.
>TRIVIA
  • Daniel Davis (Professor Moriarty) appears for the first time in the series. He later reappears in the Season 6 episode "Ship in a Bottle".
  • Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher) does not appear in this episode.
  • How the holodeck functions is explained for the first time in this episode. As Geordi explains, the program of London they were running was no bigger than the holodeck room, so the computer creates images of distant locations that look real but when touched, the computer pulls you in another direction.
