- Suzie Plakson (Lt. Selar) later plays Ambassador K'Ehleyr in the Season 2 episode "The Emissary" & the Season 4 episode "Reunion". She later plays a different character, Q, in the ST: Voyager Season 3 episode "The Q and the Grey".
- This is the first TNG episode where a torpedo is seen as part of a funeral service.
- The tune that Graves whistles, even in Data's body is "If Only I Had A Heart" from the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz".
- This is the only episode of TNG where no member of the landing party is 100% human. The landing party is made up of Lt. Commander Data, Lt. Selar, Lt. Worf & Counselor Troi
- Tasha's and Dexter Remmick's image is displayed during the test for Data.
- At the end of the episode, Riker asks Data is wrestling with a Klingon Targ rings a bell. This was assumed to have happened off-scene.
- This is the only episode of TNG in which Data is shown with a beard
- The exterior of Grave's world is later used for Mariposa in the Season 2 episode "Up the Long Ladder".
